Beauty products you have been missing out this year #FOMO

It’s the end of the year, a year filled with amazing beauty launches. A a beauty blogger I’m sometimes overwhelmed by amazing packages that arrive everyday at my doorstep, but there is simply not enough time to talk about them all. To end this year big I will show you my list of beauty products you have been missing out this year, or some say #FOMO (fear of missing out).

Must have eye creams

For some people eye cream isn’t a must, they think marketing has made up our minds that we actually need it. I really enjoy using eye cream because I often have dry skin in the inner corners of my eye. Because the skin around our eye is so sensitive, I have been very picky with what I use for my eyes.

I really enjoyed the Starskin Orglamic Pink Cactus Velvet Eye Cream because it creates this almost silicone layer around my eyes which creates a plump and hydrating effect. The cream doesn’t sting and comes in a great pump flacon. Other holy grail is the Kiehl’s Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment which is a must for a lot of people! I never understood the hype until I tried it out myself, and oh what have I been wrong. This eye cream is, as the name says super creamy and makes your skin feel super hydrated. Fine lines have disappeared and great for under makeup. Another great everyday eye cream is the Clinique Moisture Surge Eye which really adds that extra moisture with some help of the cooling gel and hydro balls. I’ve almost finished it up!

Moisturizers that will change your routine

An oily skin girl like me likes to use essence and gels during the summer and when it becomes colder I like to smack on some thicker cream. This year some amazing products have launched or got introduced to me that I’ve been loving so much! I tried to focus more on Vitamin C as I had some troubled skin this year and dark spots.

Let’s start with lotion and essence first: the Hanskin Hyaluron Skin Essence is my go to essence when my skin needs that extra hydration. It is super fluid, thin and immediately gets absorbed by the skin. This bottle is huge and I’ve been using it almost every single day and it still didn’t finish. The Kenzo White Lotus Lotion bottle is so gorgeous to have, it has this light fragrance sensation of white lotus (it’s part of the Japanese line). This lotion is a bit richer than the Hanskin but still delivers an amazing hydrated layer on the skin. Still nog happy with the amount of glow and hydration? Try try the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist to finish tour routine. This super fine watermelon fragranced face mist is so light and thin that you can’t almost feel it on your skin. I love it to finish my skincare routine with it. The Pixi Beauty Rose Ceramide Cream is the perfect moisturizer for every skin. I’ve seen some amazing reviews about it on Instagram because it is so simple but yet delivers so much hydration for the skin. Within seconds your dry lines disappeared and skin is feeling subtle. The Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream is the next level of all the moisturizers I own (next to my La Mer). I received this as a gift from CultBeauty.com and I was overwhelmed when I looked up how much worth the cream was. This luxurious cream will help to support cell renewal and reverse the damage of the skin by daily elemental stress. Is it worth it? Well, it works but I’ve tried other cream that almost this the same for only 1/10 the price. Like the Kiehl’s Calendula Serum Infused Water Cream: the perfect gel based cream for oily skin people like me that adds the right amount of moist and helps prevents acne. And if you really want the lightest gel creme but the same amount of hydration, than the Clinique Moisture Surge 72-hours is perfect. Super light gel substance, packed with all the hydration and they claim that this effect will stay up to 72 hours.

For Vitamin C creams I can recommend the Löwengrip Whipped Cream, this cream smells so amazing and will create an instant glow in your face + add the right amount of hydration. The Ole Henriksen C Rush Brightening Gel Creme is a lighter version but still adds that perfect flow and Vitamin C, perfect for the more warmer days.

Tools and body products

I neglected my body this year, but I did try some new goodies that could help me remind to do it more often (some not included in the picture). This year it was also the year of amazing face tools and I picked only two that really will change your routine. But let’s be honest, only the real addicts here use face tools right?

My fellow Vietnamese partner in crime Patrick Ta released his own beauty line this year with glosses, lip liners, blushes and body products. I tried the Patrick Ta Major Glow Body Oil and I’m obsessed. I never thought I needed a shimmer body oil but this magic in a bottle smells amazing on your body, makes your skin feel hydrated af and the shimmer are not too overwhelming. Just loving it.

I didn’t really know where to put a few of my favorites face, so here is the Summer Fridays R+R mask that is my favorite out if the 3 they released. The rose oil inside makes my skin feel super smooth and it is super gentle, even suitable for sensitive skin. When you struggle with acne as much as I do the Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Mask is going to be your life savior. It calms down the skin and makes the skin less red. The Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Pads are packed with enzyme and will brighten up your skin within one swipe. Great for traveling as the pads are already soaked in the jar!

The Milu Workout Beauty Tool (currently sold out) is a beautiful rose golden face tool that works so much better than a rose quarts or jade roller. This face tool ‘squeezes’ your skin which created a gentle massage feeling. See it as a deep skin tissue massage. The PMD Clean has been my newest face tool that I’ve been using. It is a face cleanser + heating massage in one and so easy to use.

Hair care products

My hair has been through a lot, I damaged it by changing hair color every 6 months and using heat tools. For 2020 I will stop dying my hair and use less heating tools to repair my hair.

Products that helped my hair feel healthy again are all the products from Olaplex but my favorites are number 3 and 6. Olaplex number 3 is a pre-shampoo hair mask and will repair the hair strength and help to protect your hair color. Olaplex number 6 is a Bond Smoother which helps to dry your hair faster after washing is and prevents from fly aways. Another great hair brand is Briogeo. I’ve seen their honey bear flacon everywhere on Instagram so I had to try it. Briogeo Honey Moisture Deep Conditioning Mask (currently sold out at CultBeauty) is almost the same as their regular deep conditioning mask but than in a honey fragrance. I prefer their original one because as much as I love the packaging, the honey fragrance is a little too overwhelming for me. As an oily girl I also struggle with oily scalp. Dry shampoo is a must for me and as I use a lot I like to buy a great but affordable one. Batiste (available at Kruidvat or your nearest drugstore) has been my go to for years and I always keep at least 3 cans of their dry shampoos in my stash!

Magical serums

This year I tried to focus more on my scars and aging skin. Last year I only cared about hydration and soft skin but ever since my skin started to act weird because of all the stress I had to deal a lot with acne and fine lines.

Niacinamide and Vitamin C are my go to serums, of course there is also room for some amazing scented oils like the Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Facial Oil which has an amazing rose scent and makes my skin feel subtle and glowy. Even suitable for during your am skincare routine as it doesn’t make my skin feel oily. This year I finally tried something from Herbivore which was their famous Herbivore Lapis Facial Oil, packed with retinol to target that aging skin and clarifying. Good Molecules has been taking over Instagram lately as an affordable and great skincare brand that does what it says. I’ve been enjoyed the Niacinamide Brightening Toner but especially the Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum as it doesn’t sting my skin and helped to clear up some huge cysts I had the past couple of months. Summer Fridays has been releasing new products and every product was something I needed immediately. When I saw the Summer Fridays CC Cream I knew this was perfect for my skin. A great Vitamin C serum that doesn’t create a burning sensation on the skin but does gives your skin that glowy, healthy looking skin and helps to brightening up the skin. Collistar is new for me as I never tried any of their skincare products, but when I saw they released a Glycolic Acid line I had to try it. Their Collistar Anti-Dark Spot Concentrate with Glycolic Acid+Niacinamide (just has been released, available at IciParisXL.nl) is perfect for upcoming or old acne spots to make them disappear and healing the scar tissue. I’ve tried Skin Regimen years ago but when I received their Glow set I knew I would love it. The Skin Regimen Vit C Booster is an almost gel substance that will immediately absorb into the skin and give that extra plump and glow to your skin.

Sunscreen products

The must have product and probably the most underrated products is the sunscreen. I can’t say enough how important sunscreen is to prevent skin from aging and almost every skin problem. People who come to me for skin advice have never use sunscreen before, only when they go to a sunny vacation destination. When I tell them I use sunscreen all year round they look surprised at me and almost with a fellow guilt. I’ve seen what sun damage did to my aunt and moms skin, so ever since they started to get dark spots in their face I can’t stop using sunscreen since I was 21.

An Instagram famous sunscreen is the Purito Centella Green Level Safe Sun with SPF50+ PA++++. Many skincare junkies have been raving about this sunscreen as it doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients and it creates a beautiful layer on the skin without making your makeup look cakey. The Lagom Cellus Sun Gel with SPF50 PA+++ is a mineral based sunscreen and might will create a reaction for some sensitive skin as not every skin likes minerals. I’ve been enjoyed this sunscreen because of the milky texture that just sinks right into the skin and creates a velvet layer. YADAH Oh My Sun Protection with SPG50+ PA++++ is a great sunscreen if you want that brightening effect. It almost makes me look like I have a glowy Korean skin, but don’t use too much as it might will create a white cast. Sometimes a sunscreen can make my skin extra oily, that’s when I got introduced to the Image Skincare Prevention+ Daily Matte Moisturizer SPF32+ that is a moisturizer and sunscreen in one. Usually I’m not a big fan of moisturizer with sunscreen it it but I bet everyone will love this! It has a light fresh citrus fragrance and when applied on the skin is creates this soft velvet layer that makes my skin matte throughout the day. Great for those hot summer days.

As you may have noticed I didn’t include makeup in this article otherwise it would be too long. Also as I started to take more care of my skin I’ve tried more skincare than makeup this year. My everyday makeup drawer usually stays the same depending on the look I create, but skincare is something I switch evert other week.

This list is a personal overview of all the products I’ve been enjoying this year. Big brands that just have been released or golden oldies that can use some more attention. These are all based on my oily skin and might will work out differently for every skin.

Are there some items here you see that you also have been loving this year? What are your 2020 solutions focused on your beauty regime?

Have a wonderful New Year everybody and hello to 2020!
