I think everyone has something from Olaplex in their stash or wishlist. Today I will review the Olaplex nr. 3 Hair Perfector, 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo, 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner and 6 Bond Smoother for you! It is maybe my most asked review because everyone wants to know if they are worth the hype and how well they work when you use them all together or alone. A girls hair is the most important of our appearance, that’s why we spend so much time and money on our haircare. Want to know how my hair reacted on their products? Let’s get started!
Olaplex became big a few years ago when they launched their step 1, 2 and 3 products. The first two products are only used by professionals, which will lighten up your hair without damaging is and even “repairs” the hair cells when using it. They claim that their products are better than other bleach products and will work better and faster. I do have to say that I’ve seen some pictures of Asian girls with black hair who went instantly yellow/blond after just one session and could go gray! The number 3 is a treatment and used at home to keep your hair in top condition and have to be used as a pre-shampoo treatment.
Then not so long ago they came with step 4 and 5 which are their shampoo and conditioner. I was waiting so long for these products because how could they not include those products for people like me (with damaged and bleached hair). And then I received their step 6 leave-in treatment as a PR gift. Now I had their full Olaplex experience at home (and my hairdresser at Cosmo Hairstyling Ijmuiden uses Olaplex step 1 and 2).
Olaplex nr. 3 Hair Perfector
This is maybe their most famous item, which I understand because it will instantly show you results! The nr. 3 Hair Perfector is a pre-shampoo hair mask that you need to leave in on wet hair for at least 20 minutes, but I always keep it in for at least 60 minutes. Then follow your normal hair (washing)routine and this hair mask will instantly make your hair feel smooth, add more shine and over time the color of your will will stay better.
– Repairs damaged and compromised hair
– Strengthens and protects hair structure
– Restores healthy appearance and texture
Over time I probably used up more than 3 bottles of this! It makes my hair feel and look gorgeous and healthy and I truly see the difference when I didn’t use my nr. 3 for a while. Believe me, if there is one thing you need from Olaplex than it would be probably nr. 3!
Olaplex nr. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo
Want to have beautiful, shiny, healthy, non splitting ends and maintaining your hair color? Than Olaplex nr. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo your must have shampoo! Even tho it doesn’t contains any sulfates or parabens, the shampoo still foams up when you start to massage it. This amazing scent escapes when you work it into your hair and even when you wash it out, it feels super soft (with and without using nr. 3). With some shampoo’s you can really feel that it strips away all the moisture, but not with Olaplex.
– Repairs and maintains bonds within the hair
– Eliminates frizz and flyaways
– Reduces breakage
Seriously, it has been a while since I loved washing my hair. Like I said, my hair feels so smooth after using the shampoo while with others I feel like it super dry. Even when I don’t use the nr. 3 Hair Perfector before washing my hair, it still gives me hair so much result. A small amount goes a long way!
Olaplex nr. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner
I’m that kind of girl who doesn’t uses a lot of conditioner because it makes may hair feel heavy and flat. That was the old me. The Olaplex nr. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner has this light weight texture and gives my hair the needed shine and repair but without adding the extra weight to it. Also here, a small amount goes a long way with the product.
– Repairs hair and maintains bonds within the hair
– Adds shine
The nr. 5 has to be used with nr. 4 to give your the best results. I do understand that sometimes another bottle runs empty faster than the other and then you end up with a different combination of shampoo and conditioner. Is this conditioner a must for me? Not really, I don’t feel like it does something special when I look and touch my hair. Maybe in the long run it will repair the condition of my hair more.
Olaplex nr. 6 Bond Smoother
A hair oil can be great, but sometimes when you already have an oily scalp it only works for the ends. The nr. 6 Bond Smoother works even better than a hair oil, because besides adding moisture and shine to your hair it will fasten up the blow dry time! Even when you don’t like to use hot tools, this leave-in treatment will dry your hair faster do you don’t need to walk out of the house with wet hair when you are in a rush.
– Speeds up blow dry time
When you look at the other Olaplex products, I think the nr. 3 Hair Perfector and nr. 6 Bond Smoother are really one of a kind products. The nr. 6 Bond Smoother really changed my hair game after I washed it; just apply a small amount (coin size) on my hands and spread it all over my hair, comb it and let it dry. Within an half hour my hair is ready to be styled! It makes my hair feel super soft and hydrated. I always have this big pieces of baby hairs above me ears, but they are tamed now.
Is Olaplex worth the hype? Definitely. Do you need all the products? Not all, but they do work better if you combine them all together for your hair routine. Which must haves do you need? Nr. 3 Hair Perfector and nr. 6 Bond Smoother without a doubt, these two products can’t be find anywhere and they will change your hair routine for good. The nr. 3 Hair Perfector makes your hair feel super smooth, hydrates and rebuilds your broken hair bonds. The nr. 6 Bond Smoother will give your hair the perfect finishing touch by making it appear smooth and silky, strengthens and frizz hairs are gone. The nr. 4 shampoo and nr. 5 conditioner are great but I think they are not a must because there are plenty of other repair shampoo’s and conditioners on the market that work even well.
Olaplex is available online at Notino.nl or at your hairsalon that works with their products.
