Today I will talk about the Giorgio Armani Beauty Ecstasy Shine Lipstick. I’ve never been this excited to try a shine lipstick! Personally I’m more of a matte or liquid lipstick lover but for Giorgio Armani I will make an exception. When I saw the red packaging and the shiny Giorgio Armani logo on the stick I knew that this would change my life. This is very first product from them that I will try, so I have high expectations after all the great reviews I’ve read about their other products. Thanks to Serena from Beautylab.nl for giving me these lipsticks! Curious what this Giorgio Armani noobie will think about these two gorgeous shine lipsticks?
Giorgio Armani Beauty came with the Ecstasty Shine Lipsticks. A gorgeous lipstick that will give your lips a pop of color, high-shine and moisturizing lips at the same time. Want to have that natural look without doing too much? Apply these on your lips and you will immediately change your look into something special with one swipe! It gives you the look of a gloss but the pigmentation of a lipstick. The balm gives your lips up to eight hours of hydration and it twice as smooth than your ordinary lipstick. Sounds perfect right?
The red and black tube makes this lipstick such a luxurious item. I have a huge weakness when it comes to pretty packaging. I’ve used these lipsticks a few times in my flatlays by now and they are rocking it! The Giorgio Armani logo is looking great on the cap like they on all their lip products. When you remove the cap from the lipstick you can feel a kind of pressure; the cap and lipstick are connected with a magnet! How cool is that? It makes the lipstick feel even more expensive. Not that it makes this lipstick perform better but I like the idea of a magnet cap on the lipstick (like the ones of the Burberry lipsticks).
I received the shades 303 Freesia and 507 Sakura. The shade 303 Freesia is a bright orange that is just the perfect shade for this spring. I call it more like a tomato orange but don’t expect that this will look exactly the same on your lips. The shade 507 Sakura is a pink that might will scare you if you have a warm undertone like me. I can never pull of a shade like this but for Giorgio Armani I will make an exception and try it out.
When I first tried them out I was a bit scared the moment I saw the colors. They are really bright and I started to questioning if this was something I could pull off. The lipstick feels amazing when you hold it; it has a heavy feeling and the cap feels slick. On the cap you will find the beautiful Giorgio Armani logo but the best thing has yet to come; try to pull of the cap, you can feel a magnet holding them together. I’m a sucker for great packaging.
I first went for the ‘save’ shade which can be described as a bright pink with a hint of shimmers. Usually I try to avoid these shades because they make my skincolor look very weird (I usually go for mauve/dark shades). I applied it on my lower lip and I could instantly feel smooth and buttery texture of this amazing lipstick. It feels like a super moisturizing lipbalm but even better, almost like and oil texture. The color pay of is immense and I could not believe how much color came off from one swipe. The color looks nothing like in the tube, it looks even better on the lips. It creates a sheer effect but enough coverage to call it a lipstick. It makes my lips look plump, moisturized and evenly. No dry lines or patches are visible. Did I even started about how it smells?
I will reapply this lipstick everytime when I have to because this scent makes me go wild. It has the same scent as my favorite lip balms, sweet but not too overwhelming but it doesn’t have that recognizing scent of a specific candy or fruit. The bright cool orange shade has the same results but the shade looks totally different on my lips. It starts to change into a more warm tone on the lips, almost like it has a hint of red. I really like how it looks on my lips and this would be totally something I could wear every day when I’m on a sunny holiday.
The problem with (sheer) lipsticks is that you have to check your lipstick regularly when you have been eating or drinking. It starts to fade away or smudging. It may sound cruel but I used mine for the first time on a funeral. During the ceremony I cried a lot and I could feel the tears running over my whole face and lips. Then we had a moment to talk and have some food and drinks. The family members rented a beautiful place in a one star Michelin restaurant, so you may can imagine all the great food and drinks that was there. When we came home I was so full that we didn’t have to make dinner. I forget that I was wearing lipstick so I quickly checked the mess on my face. Surprisingly the lipstick had fade away in a beautiful way; it looked like I was wearing a lip tint. It still had that pop of color but there was no smudging or weird gap between my lips. If this lipstick survives a funeral, than it will survive everything!
I never thought that I could be this excited about a sheer moisturizing lipstick. The last few years I’ve been only wearing liquid lipsticks because they gave me the feeling of a long-lasting effect that doesn’t smudge. The Giorgio Armani Sheer Lipstick changed my perspective about sheer lipsticks. It gave my lips the right amount of moisture that it needs, the color payoff is beautiful and it somehow gives my lips a plump effect. After I tried it during the funeral and many times after that I obviously fell in love with it.
My boyfriend calls me a “brand slut” (which is the literally translation of “merk slet” in Dutch): when something is expensive or from a big brand, I will instantly love it. It may sounds very offensive but I have to agree with him. How can you not love the brand Giorgio Armani? Is this sheer lipstick was from a drugstore brand I would not even look at it. The brand logo and the packaging and luxurious feel of this lipstick makes it special. After all, you are paying for the good reputation and name of the brand right?
I would definitely repurchase this lipstick when I finish it. The shades looks beautiful on my lips and are perfect for that everyday look of when you are in a rush. I do think that there are some dupes available but for me the packaging and look of the lipstick is very important. It makes me feel special when I apply it!
