Does a Magic Foundation exist? Charlotte Tilbury has it!

Hello gorgeous,

Do you believe it that the Magic Foundation is created by Charlotte Tilbury? Her magic hands can create many beautiful makeup items and I can tell you that half of my everyday makeupbag contains her items. With my oily skin it is hard to find a great foundation that delivers a great coverage, stays matte but still makes my skin look healthy. I was a bit sceptical when Charlotte Tilbury came with this foundation: Magic Foundation. Does it work that great that she names it after magic that can do everything? I had to review it, luckily Cult Beauty gifted this to me so it was about time to try it out myself!

This hard-working full coverage foundation is brimming with skin-loving ingredients to actively correct as it perfects. Cloaking skin with a featherweight, semi-matte veil, this formula infuses cells with precious moisture to diminish depth of lines and grant a gorgeous, dewy plumpness thanks to ‘hyaluronic filling spheres’. With firming and ‘tightening’ mushroom extract, alongside antioxidant vitamin C this increases resilience to deflect everyday environmental stress, while broad spectrum SPF 15 protects skin from the damaging effects of UVA/B rays. Ideal for all skin types – including oily or acneic (it boasts oil-regulatory technology) – your complexion will look completely flawless all day long.

WHAT MAKES Charlotte Tilbury MAGIC FOUNDATION MAGIC?

• This formula boosts collagen to reduce the appearance of age spots by 75% in just 4 months and the appearance of acne after just 9 weeks!

• 77% of women agree it gives them perfect-looking skin and 83% would recommend to a friend!

• Concentrated mushroom extract firms your skin as well as moisturising and tightening your pores with Vitamin C fights any signs of ageing.

• Hyaluronic Filling Spheres plumps up your wrinkles for firmer looking skin.

• Ideal for flawless, poreless coverage, especially if you struggle with melasma, acne, or rosacea.

Every item I own from Charlotte Tilbury looks luxurious. The rose gold which is their signature really pops out. It makes it feel super expensive (well, it’s not an affordable brand) and will look great on your vanity. The bottle has a rose gold cap with a soft/matte glass bottle. It is something different from their other foundations/primers or anything that is liquid. Those products are contained in a plastic bottle and this is the only makeup item in a glass bottle. That’s why this foundation deserves a spot on my vanity and isn’t hidden away in my drawer.

I picked the shade 3.5 Fair Pale because the website showed a range of beautiful women with different skin tones. Usually my NC20/25 skin is a more yellow undertone, which is showed by an Asian model in most of the times. That’s why it is very ‘easy’ for me to pick a shade: just find the Asian.

Even tho I thought I found my shade, I’m still quite tan from my trip to Japan. So hopefully the color will match my skin and otherwise I have to see if I have to mix it up with a darker/lighter shade.

Yaay, it has a pump! There are pros and cons about having a foundation with a pump. First the pump makes it easy to get the right amount of product. This pump isn’t your MAC Studio Fix Concealer kinda pump which makes you throw away half of the product that comes out. No, this pump kan be pressed down gently and stops whenever you want! How amazing is that. On the other hand, when your foundation start to get empty there isn’t an easy way to get the last few drops out of this bottle. I didn’t try it out yet if it was possible to remove the pump, something for later to think about.

When I first swatched the foundation I noticed how neutral the foundation smelled like. Usually I hate the scent of a foundation because it has this artificial scent but this time it had even a hint of something freshness to it. Hard to describe it but this doesn’t smell like your ordinary foundation.

The formula of the foundation is magic on its own because auntie Charlotte promises us a lot of things: firmness, collagen boost, oil control, smoother, plump and flawless skin. Okay, this is literally everything a person wants in their foundation right? I can’t believe that this foundation will do everything, it can’t be.

Before I start to share my experience I will give you some more information about my skin: I have super oily skin! Within an hour after my skincare regime my skin starts to get shiny. This oil will get worse after a few hours and after the end of the day I may have blotted my face over 2 times and applied some matte powder. Around my jawline I have a lot of acne because of the hormones. They never disappear, sometimes they get less visible but it is always there. On my cheeks you can find big pores under my eyes and around my nose. You can see them with and without makeup, the pores are huge! Enough skin problems to target I think?

I apply my Magic Foundation with a Buffer brush from Zoeva Cosmetics. It is my all time favorite brush for applying foundation on my face. I apply the foundation on the back of my hand, but I don’t use a whole pump: I think I pressed 3/4 of the pump. I start to swirl my brush into the foundation and apply big strokes on my cheeks, chin nose and forehead. Than I blend the foundation into the skin with circular motions.

The color was something I was concerned about, but after all it matched my skintone! First thing I noticed is that my skin looked instantly flawless and less red. It had an even tone without any brush strokes and it already looked like I had a filter on my skin. The coverage was perfect and it didn’t make my skin look dry or heavy. Instead my skin started to get a healthy glow and it looked super natural on my skin. I did have a few dry patches on my nose which were still visible, but the foundation didn’t create extra dryness on this spot. You only saw one little stroke of peeling skin on my nose. Eventually not everything can be perfect, my pores were still visible but I can see a difference with and without the foundation. It looks like they are filled, but it also might be the foundation that are just ‘in’ the pores. Anyway, it kinda worked to conceal the pores. My acne on the jawline was just gone, you could only see the small bumps under the foundation. I do have to say that my acne isn’t my main problem, usually I can hide it away easily with some concealer by Glossier. As an oily skin girl I really liked the foundation, but is doesn’t stop my oil production (of course). Instead of creating more oil, it made my skin look super glowy! I have this one friend who always makes mean jokes, but when she saw my instastory with this foundation she said: woow such glowy skin!

Before – After: I only applied the Magic Foundation, no concealer, primer or powder! This is just 10 minutes after application.

We can all say that everybody needs at least one item of auntie Charlotte Tilbury in their stash. If you don’t have anything yet of her, I can highly recommend you her Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette or her Hot Lips Lipsticks. After trying out her Magic Foundation I can say that I’m blown away by the amazing results and this might be one of my favorite foundations of 2017! Maybe this can be included in my top 5 favorite foundations (maybe I should dedicate a post to it?).

I have a obessesion with finding the perfect foundation for an oily skin girl like me. I can recommend this foundation to every oily person out there, you will love this foundation! Instead of looking like a discoball after 4 hours you will receive that healthy glow you were afraid of because it might make you even more oily. But not in this case! While you wear the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation your skin will look flawless, healthy, glowy and smooth. I can’t say anything about the collagen of plump effect because I didn’t see a big difference in the conditions of my skin, but I might will talk differently after a few months!

You can get your own Magic Foundation by Charlotte Tilbury at Cult Beauty for £30,-.

Congrats dear with all your CT goodies~ I actually really disliked this foundation, which surprised me as I didn’t think I would (after reading all about it). I prefer her other foundation, even though the coverage isn’t that great. If I use some mattifying powder it really does hold up!

Thanks for reading babee! Awwh so sad to hear that it didnt work for you ): my before and after pics are actually not that correct because i started dermarolling my skin the week so it can look really red and irritating, but on my good days this foundation is my HG! Maybe because of my oily skin? I never wear this foundation without any powder (or any foundation).

I want to try this foundation, but no stores by me carry Charlotte Tilbury. I’ve checked Nordstrom and while they carry it online, my store doesn’t have a CT section in their beauty department. I suck at trying to match foundation online and want to swatch in-store. I’m going to Orlando this weekend with my boyfriend. Going to see if maybe one of the malls there might have it so I can get a sample.
