Hei Poa, Tahiti Monoï Oil Elixer D’Amour

Hei Poa, Tahiti Monoï Oil Elixer D’Amour

Hii beautiful!

Today I’m going to talk about the brand Hei Poa. I will review their Tahiti Monoï Oil in the version Elixer D’Amour. The lovely Angelien of the webshop HeiPoa.nl approached me if I wanted to do a review about their Hei Poa items. To be honest, I couldn’t say no to this lovely bottle because it looks so cute and romantic and you all know that I have a weakness for pretty packaging. This is also a great timing to talk about this true life savior because the weather is getting better and we show our skin more often and we let our hair getting in touch with seawater again. It isn’t just an oil, it is multifunctional. Don’t get confused about this being a ‘only summer’ item because this can be used all year! Getting more curious about what it actually does? Let’s get started!

Product information

For more than 35 years, Monoï from Hei Poa has been a part of life in France. At the beach or in town, this little bottle is today a cult product. Its delicate and sensual fragrance is evocative of exotic lands.

Monoï from Tahiti contains two ingredients: tiaré flower and Polynesian coconut. Controlled designation of its origin guarantees that it is authentic, of the finest quality and locally made. The recipe for Monoï contains the petals from at least 10 tiaré flowers that have been macerated in a litre of copra oil for 12 days. The copra comes from coral-rich soil and the tiaré flowers are freshly picked while still buds, preferably at dawn.

The moisturising*, softening, soothing and cleansing properties of Monoï from Tahiti are scientifically recognised. Studies have also shown that Monoï from Tahiti has a restorative effect on dry and damaged hair, by repairing the scales on hair fibres, which makes the surface of the hair more regular and smoother.

Hei Poa preserves these precious qualities in the production of its beauty products containing Monoï.

* Moisturising of the upper layers of the epidermis.

How to use

The Monoï is a traditional product, naturally rich in essential fatty acids, which solidifies below a temperature of 24 ° C. To take full advantage of its also extremely beneficial in winter, spend a few moments the bottle under hot water flush. The product will return liquid and rediscover its original properties. It is used as a treatment for the body as well as capillary mask on dry and damaged hair. To moisturize the skin every day, after showering or bathing, apply the Monoï oil on damp skin, massaging gently to penetrate the product faster.

Let start with the fun part: the bottle. It is made out of glass so it has a real apothecary feeling when you hold it, so luxurious! I LOVE the label on this “Elixer d’amour” bottle it totally fits with the whole theme around the name of the oil. Doesn’t the lace pattern makes you think about Fifty Shades of Grey? Or is it just me again? Anyway the colors really finish the looks of the bottle. It makes it feel mysterious, warm, romantic, sensual everything you can imagine when you hear the word ‘oil’.

The amount is 100ml which is great! Don’t forget that it is a liquid oil consistency so it spreads evenly on the skin and you only need a small amount to cover your body.

They ingredients says it all: the coconut oil is on the first place together with some perfume which I understand. The next two ingredients are the flower and fruit extract. I’m so happy to see this as the first few ingredients, Hei Poa really do make their products with high quality! Now I understand why there are so many fake brands on the market who claim to sell pure ingredients. Please be aware for that! Always check if you are purchasing a certified Tahiti Oil product. Hei Poa is the most famous brand when it comes to a good and original Tahiti Oil.

So there are two ways to use it: for the body and hair. When using it on the body it will moisturize the upper layers of the epidermis (which means “the outer layer of cells covering an organism”, the skin). Beside using it as a body oil it is also well-known as an aphrodisiac, to stimulate your sense and feelings. I already made a joke with my boyfriend that we could use this TMI. It will hydrate your skin without making it feel sticky or slippery. While massaging it on the skin it will absorb fast. Anyway, I use it before washing my hair as a treatment.

The consistency is a fluid oil which it transparent. To me it is much more fluid than other oils I’ve tried in the past but I can understand that they did this because it has to be multifunctional for the hair and skin. While using it ons the skin it feels almost like a gel because the skin absorbs it within a minute, not something you expect from an oil which is great! No sticky feeling and your skin looks smooth and hydrated. Hei Poa advice you to use the oil after showering while your skin is still damp, it will absorb the oil faster.

The scent is AMAZING! I totally understand why there are so many fake brands out there because it really is a tropical dream in a bottle. It smells, mysterious, sweet but not to overpowering, flowery, intense and it doesn’t disappear when you apply it on the skin! It really is like a love potion in a bottle, I can’t resist it. This would be great when you use the Monoï oil as a hair oil while blowdrying or as a finishing product. Imagine with every breeze your hair will smell delicious and people will compliment you.

So the results: I used it on my body on the most beautiful spring day this April. As you can see on the pictures the sun was shining all day. I applied the oil on my arms because they the body part which need moisture all the time. If you would scratch my skin with your nail, you can see how dry it is. Excuse me for saying this, but I hate using body oils, creams or lotions. I avoid the sticky feeling it sometimes creates on my skin and the weird gross feeling when you put on your clothes. So for me it is important that is absorb fast and that it doesn’t leave a sticky feeling behind.

I love it! I never been a fan of body oils but this one was something new for me. I tried The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey Lotion a while ago and I thought I would never find something that works that great for me as this product. Now I can say that I can add an oil on my list “First I hated it, now I can’t live without it”. The moment I applied the oil on my arm I thought: hmmm it feels almost like water/gel when I start rubbing it on my skin. It disappeared immediately after I rubbed it in for s few seconds. And guess what? My skin felt super smooth, it looked healthy and glowy and NO sticky feeling. I think of all the body products I hated the oils the most because they make me feel oily (duhhh) and it took a lot of time before the oil was absorbed into the skin. We can’t forget about the amazing fragrance this bottle got: I smelled sexy! The warm tropical scent was noticeable when applied on my arms but not overwhelming that you get distracted by the heavy scent.

Let’s move on with my hair. I used it as an oil treatment before washing my hair and afterwards. When applying it into my hair I had some trouble to spread it evenly. Maybe it is my hair because it can be so dry sometimes that even styling products are hard to work with. I left it for about 30 minutes in my hair and then I started with my usual hair wash routine. I ended up with a bit more healthy looking hair but nothing of the scent nor the moisture was noticeable. But most of the people use this as a finishing products! I loved it as a hair oil after washing my hair. It instantly makes my hair less frizzy and it smells great. I find it great for my hair ends because they look less dry and I did noticed that my hair became less tangled during the day. Beach babes are loving this as a hair oil during their beach days!

Hei Poa is an island in a bottle! It smells amazing, it looks beautiful in your stash and it contains honest and great ingredients to create the best Tahiti Oil. I prefer using it as a body oil and finishing hair oil because only than I can enjoy the delicious fragrance of romance and fruit extracts in a bottle. My skin feels smooth and non sticky after applying the oil and it stays hydrated for at least 2 days. Great for my dry cracky legs because they needs some TLC after a cold winter season! My hair loves it after I washed it. Best is to use it when your hair is still damp and then start blowdrying it.

I can recommend this multifunctional Tahiti Monoï oil to people who hate a sticky feeling when apply a body oil. It creates a hydrating finish on the skin without making it slippery or sticky. You are ready for a night out during the summer because the oil will attract people with its delicious fragrance. Also great for using after you take a shower on the damp skin and hair. Conclusion: if you need a body or hair oil, the Hei Poa Elixir d’Amour is perfect for you during the coming spring/summer days!
