Anastasia Beverly Hills, Stick Foundation

Anastasia Beverly Hills, Stick Foundation

Hii beauty’s!

Yessss, finally a makeup review! Today it is all about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation. When ABH first came with these sticks I was the first one who got it (well, I mean I got it immediately when it was available around Black Friday) and I got it with a great discount! When you buy these kinds or products you can’t just buy one: I got instantly 4 of them: two shade sticks and two as a foundation. Yes, I had one of those times that I had to spoil myself. I got these moments very often (looks sad at her bank account). Let’s not wait too long, head over to the review!

Product information

What it is:
A multitasking, light-to-full-coverage cream stick foundation with a natural-looking, demi-matte finish.

What it does:
This highly pigmented, buildable cream stick foundation creates a flawless, natural looking demi-matte finish. The Stick Foundation is ideal for combination and oily skin, and the lightweight, easy-to-layer foundation delivers light-to-full-coverage, depending on the method of application. It’s designed to quickly and precisely apply all-over coverage, daily touch ups, or highlight and contour with ease.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

Let’s start with the packaging: slick black! I love it, that is what I expect from ABH. It is pretty to look at and it is easy to use. I love how the logo of the brand is on top of the stick. The black en rose gold fit so well together, that is just how ABH marks her collection (just as her famous Dipbrow Pomade). I’m happy that I got for of them, because since I got them I used them many times in my flatlays. Four items are perfect so create the best symmetric looking pictures.

The only downside of the packaging is that some of these sticks have a weak cap, which means that the cap can fall off quickly. But with some creativity you can fix this by molding the cap by bending it.

Ohh, it get’s even better when you open the stick! I got four shades: Banana, Mink, Warm Natural & Natural. Banana is a shade which you can use for highlighter under the eyes, forehead and cheeks. Mink is the contour shade stick for the jaw line and cheeks. Warm Natural is my autumn/winter shade which looks like a NC20/NC25 to me. Natural is a shade I might won’t use because I thought it was my spring/summer shade but it got a more pink undertone instead of a cool one.

The moment you open the sticks I didn’t notice a weird smell, it is just like all the other foundations. But to be honest, these are quiet neutral in scents because only when you put your nose holes on it you will catch some “cosmetics” scents.

The texture of these sticks are amazing! I was a bit skeptical because in the past I didn’t have a good experience without foundations sticks but ABH made me believe that it is possible. The sticks glide on your skin and at first sight it might look dry on the skin, but the moment you start buffing it out with a brush is it so easy! To me it feels creamy on the skin when applying but when I start to brush it out it becomes matte. I like to use a flat buffer brush and my skin looks air brushed when I use these sticks! Don’t be too happy with using the sticks because when you use too much it can look like it is ‘floating’ on your skin (REMINDER: I have super oily skin and I hear different story’s especially people with dry/normal skin).

I have a super oily skin, no matter what my skincare routine is. That’s why I’m always looking for products that make my face look matte. I avoid illuminating primers, hydrating foundations or shimmers. When I heard about these sticks I was so excited because ABH said it was perfect for combination/oily skin people. I was thrilled when I’ve read this and got instantly four sticks! It was during Black Firday that I got these sticks so I pay $20,- instead of $25,- (yaaaaaas). My biggest concern is that it makes my skin even more oily that it already is.

I like to use the Warm Natural as a foundation and the Banana for under the eyes. I start with the foundation and I make stripes on my face: 3 on each cheek, stripe on the chin, nose and a few on my forehead. I use my Zoeva Flat Buffer brush to blend out the stick foundation. It is so easy and it glides on my. Sometimes I do notice that the base can look a bit striky, make sure to prime your face well when you are oily. I grab the Banana stick and I make a triangle under my eyes and a stripe on my forehead (I’m not a lover of extreme contouring). Real Techniques got my favorite makeup sponge of all time: Miracle Sponge. Don’t try to convince me that the BeautyBlender is better because I won’t spend my money on a sponge that costs 2 times more than the Real Techniques. My face doesn’t need much coverage and I’m very pleased how my skin looks after I buffed the stick. Don’t forget to powder your face, I like to use MUA Cosmetics Hydro Powder.

During the day when I use the Stick Foundation my skin gets even better, there is a glow on my face instead of oily spots. It looks like the sticks prevent the oily coming through my skin, that’s why I got a more illuminating effect on my skin by now. I do spot some movement on my skin around my mouth and under the eyes but that is something I always struggle with, oily skin girls never have ‘perfect’ matte base.

Left to right: Banana, Mink, Warm Natural & Natural

I loveeee these sticks, they are absolutely my favorite foundation sticks I’ve ever used! ABH offer a big color range, so there must be a shade that fits your skintone. The stick is great for people with combination/oily skin like me, just had some oil or use a hydration primer when using the sticks. The coverage is great and I love how easy it is to blend out the foundation. Beside the foundation it is also a shade and light stick for highlighting and contouring.

I can recommend everyone these stick foundations, especially my lovely oily skin people! You will never love another stick in your love (or perhaps just the other ‘stick’). I also heard amazing things about the Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation Sticks but never tried them out. If anyone has both sticks, let me know which one works better for you!

You can get your own Anastasia beverly Hills Stick Foundation for $25,- at the official website.

Thanks a lot for reading <3

Ive never tried a stick foundation before because they usually are for dry/combo skin whereas I have combo/oily skin so this one sounds great.

Such a thorough review with beautiful pictures An! I’m loving the packaging of these foundations, they look very sleek. My cheeks are on the drier side so I’m not sure how these would work out for me, but I feel like they would make great concealers as well 😀

Thankyouu so much Jenny! Yes they look so pretty but when you have dry patches u can maybe use some oil when you apply it. Or use the banana stick as a highlighter!

I think you would love it if you have a combi to oily skin! Otherwise you could add some oil for when you have dry skin! X
