Real Techniques: Mini, Sculpting and Diamond Sponges

Real Techniques: Mini, Sculpting and Diamond Sponges

Hii everyone!

Today I’m going to review 3 (!) new sponges from Real Techniques: Mini, Sculpting and the Diamond. I was so excited when RT announced that they would release new sponges, because they have the best and most affordable makeup sponges on the market. Why spend €20,- for a makeup sponge when you can get them for €6,-? That’s why I love RT, they always come with pretty and affordable items. This time they surprised us all by launching three new variations of their famous sponge. Let’s get started!

Real Techniques is a British brand were Sarah and Nic are the founders and sisters of this amazing brand. They have a great collection of brushes which are marked with the colors orange, purple and pink. Orange stands for the base, pink for face applications and purple for the eyes. I own several brushes of RT but the thing I’m most happy about is their Miracle Sponge! It is absolutely the best and most affordable makeup sponge I’ve ever used. I never tried out the expensive BeautyBlender Sponge, because why would you pay so much for a sponge? I read many reviews that the RT Miracle Sponge worked almost (sometimes even better) than the BeautyBlender. But let’s talk about their new items!

Mini Sponge

From flaking mascara to eye shadow fallout, these little miracles help sweep away your makeup mishaps. Use damp to blend harsh lines or dry to pick up makeup.

  • flat edges: erase
  • rounded sides: buff + blend
  • tip: targeted sweep

6 ways to erase:

  1. Sweep away under eye shadow fallout
  2. Wipe away liner gone wrong
  3. Pick up brow product fallout
  4. Wipe away mascara smudges
  5. Pick up over applied shadow
  6. Blend away too much blush or highlighter
  • replace every 1-3 months
  • latex-free

Sculpting Sponge

Designed to help create shadows or highlight your favorite facial features. Use damp for a dewy glow or dry for a full coverage finish. Ideal for powders, creams, and liquids.

  • small side for precision highlighting
  • large side for controlled contouring

6 Surfaces to complete your sculpt.

  • replace every 1-3 months
  • latex-free

Diamond Sponge

This multi-faceted Miracle Diamond Sponge is uniquely designed to work with multiple products on different areas of your face. No two Miracle Diamond Sponges are alike—each has its own unique swirl design.

  • pointed tip covers small imperfections
  • larger flat sides function as a wedge to apply makeup to larger areas like your forehead and cheeks
  • smaller flat sides are great for precision contouring around your eyes, mouth, and brow bone.
  • top works great to buff and blend out your makeup for a flawless finish

Tip: use wet for dewy application and dry for full coverage powders

  • Replace every 1-3 months
  • latex-free

The Mini Sponges are a great tool for setting your under eyes or getting into areas that are hard to reach. I prefer using my Mini Sponge damped with water or with my Mac Fix+ Spray (I use all of my sponges damped!). I will use this sponge for removing mistakes nearby my eyes, like removing eyeliner. I’m not a big fan of setting the eye area with this sponge, I personally like to use a bigger sponge to apply a setting powder underneath the eyes. The sponge itself feels great but a little more different from the original Miracle  Sponge, less softer. Not one of my favorite.

The Sculpting Sponge is a different story, this one is so unique and fun to use in multiple ways. I see this not only as a sculpting sponge, but also amazing for applying liquid foundation or setting the eye area. It has the perfect shape for it and you can hold it easy. This material is more the same in comparison to the original Miracle Sponge, it is soft and it gets more fluffy when you make it damp. I use this sponge for setting the under eye area with powder or to fade my concealer with more precision. I do think it is a bit on the small side the size of this sponge, but this is something personal. It still works great!

Okay, first of all: my Diamond Sponge doesn’t look ‘marble’ at all compared to the RT advertisements. It looks a bit like a white sponge with a gray swirl in it, really disappointed because that was the whole reason why I wanted this sponge so bad ( I love marble ). But anyway, this is by far the most softest makeup sponge of the whole RT range! Even when it is dry it feels amazing, totally worth my money. I love how it is shaped as a diamond but I don’t think I will use the small sides but only the top or the triangle surface. Great for applying powder and foundation, I prefer using this for setting my face with powder because I’m a bit afraid to use this white sponge for my liquid foundation. This sponge is even better than the amazing Miracle Sponge!

Nowadays everyone uses sponges for their makeup, Real Techniques make the best and most affordable makeup sponges in my opinion. I used the Miracle Sponge for years now, but I think the Diamond will be my new favorite! It is so dense and fluffy without making it damp and the pattern is something that will make you fall in love with this sponge. The Sculpting and Mini sponges are both great  but I don’t think you will need them in your life. You can still achieve the same results with these sponges when you use the Miracle or the Diamond sponge.

You can get your own Real Technique sponges at Boozyshop.nl or TheMakeupSpot.nl. The Mini Sponges are €6,99, the Sculpting Sponge is €6,99 and the Diamond Sponge is €11,95.

Thanks a lot for reading x

Mooi is die he!
