Hii everyone!
You look at your favorite Youtuber when they film a review and they say: “This products is amazing!”. Yes, it means you have to get this product immediatly! I had this with the Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Encre De Peau when Jacklyn Hill did a review about this foundation. I kind of forgot this product so that’s why I made this review. Let’s get started!
YSL Le Teint Encre De Peau was so popular a while ago, that YSL announced that they had a waiting list for this foundation! Well, I just bought it at the store without any problem but the moment when they just released it everybody became crazy about this product. I can understand why: the packaging looks absolutely gorgeous and and it was something different compared to their other foundations. Also because a lot of people made reviews about this, some were positive and others had their question mark about this foundation. I own this bottle for over a year now but I never used it often. Lately I try to switch my products, that’s how I rediscovered this YSL foundation.
FEELS LIKE A FEATHER. WEARS LIKE AN INK. NO MORE COMPROMISE. 24 hours of soft-matte perfection and comfort. Our exclusive fine-as-ink formula perfects the skin yet wears weightlessly all day. Never cakey or heavy. Feel the difference of all day perfection and freedom. SPF 18. Available in 21 shades
Well, they do make a lot of promisses with this foundation, don’t you think? Let me say that not one foundation stayed 24 hours matte on my super oily skin, even when I used a finishing powder. They claim to be never cakey or heavy, I can imagine that because the consistency of this foundation is almost fluid. But the idea of a longwear foundation that is weightless made me purchase this item.
I took the color B 30 Almond, the guy of the YSL counter told me this was my color but I knew that it would be too warm for me but he was pushing me to get this one. Also at my YSL counter they don’t have a big color range so I could only choose from 8/10 colors at that time. If I could turn back time I would pick the BR 20 Cool Ivory.
When your remove the cap you will find another one which is the actual applicator. The applicator is a wand instead of a pump, I prefer a pump instead of a wand. I like the idea of a pump because it’s more hygiene. You can transfer the product on the back of your hand and then apply it on your face.
As you can see this color is way to dark for me, I like to be a bit paler or just the right color match. Left is the color on the back of my hand and the right is the color blended. Because the consistency of the foundation is so thin and liquid it is easy to blend. YSL says that you have to blend with your fingers bit I did it with a stippling brush. The coverage looks good but I expected it to be more thicker and a better coverage. Maybe it’s because of the consistency of the foundation, but I will see this is a light to medium coverage.
After wearing it for at least 12 hours the results are disappointing. I have an oily skin and even when I powder my face the foundation won’t stay for long on the skin as they promised (24 hours). I had to blot my face because it became so oily and the coverage disappeared after 6 hours. My face looked so shiny and it looked like my foundation was melting on the skin. I really had to use a powder foundation after 6/8 hours to make it look good again. Also when you apply it and you have dry patches, this foundation will only more accentuate the dry patches! So your face have to be in a top condition to use this foundation without any problem.
Overall I am really disappointed about this foundation. It won’t stay for long on the skin and the coverage is really average. It does look cakey when you have dry patches on your skin and it also looks like your wrinkles are more visible. For the amount of money you pay for this foundation it’s not worth it. Its’s so sad because YSL is one of my favorite high end brands and they used to make one of my favorite foundation that is discontinued now. I really wished I liked this foundation but it’s not meant to be.
Because I have a really oily skin this foundation does not work for me. It glides of the face after a few hours and it will start to look oily after only a few hours. This foundation will be more suitable for people with dry skin BUT without any dry patches or when you have a combination skin.
You can buy this YSL Le Teint Encre De Peau for €51,50 at several webshops (De Bijenkorf).
